Spring Banquets 2012

We are busier now than we have ever been. We have just concluded three banquets, and each was a wonderful success. We want to thank all of our faithful donors who see value in our ministry and continue to provide support for us.
We began with our annual banquet in Cook County. This year we had the living legend Coach Bobby Bowden come and speak for us and as always he was wonderful. The coaches testimony and the student testimonies were Christ-centered and very encouraging. The meal was fantastic as usual. We want to thank everyone who had a part in making this event so successful.
We followed that with our Spring Banquet in Valdosta at the Rainwater Convention Center. This year we had Pastor Ken Smith speak to us. He is a former chaplain for several SEC football programs and is FCA’s most sought after speaker. He did an absolutely wonderful job. Russ Collett, Chairman of the SEGA FAC Advisory Board and Trea Brinson, SEGA FCA VSU Chaplain presented our current Area Director, Hal McGregor with a retirement plaque. The plaque reads, "In recognition of your many years of dedicated service tot he Fellowship of Christian Athletes in Southeast Georgia. Thanks for introducing Christ to thousands of children, coaches and for being a Christian example to all you have touched." Leigh Ellis of Valdosta High School was chosen as our FCA Athlete of the Year. We heard several wonderful testimonies from student athletes.
We concluded our banquet season with our annual Berrien County Banquet. Our friend, Keith Powell, does a great job of putting this event together for us. This year we were blessed to have Coach Ray Goff come and speak. We had a capacity crowd and thoroughly enjoyed the event. The meal was excellent and the music was off the hook. Our thanks go out to New Tradition for blessing us with God honoring music. Coach Goff spoke of making bad decisions and choices and pointed everyone to Christ as the answer to life’s problems.
In addition, on Wednesday night preceding the Berrien Banquet, we had our Coaches Appreciation Supper and had over 80 coaches and spouses come and spend the evening with us. Coach Goff came and spoke as one coach to another about the temptations of life and how to avoid them. It was a very personal and needed message to our coaches to guard themselves against temptations.
Camping season is now upon us, and we are busy signing up athletes for camp. If you or your team is interested, please contact us. We would love to help make it happen.
